The Healthcare Businesswomen's Association (HBA) announced the launch of The HBA Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing health outcomes and building the future healthcare workforce through mission-driven giving. According to the McKinsey Health Institute, the global health workforce is projected to fall short by approximately 11 million workers by 2030.

"As a global association representing leaders across healthcare and life sciences, the HBA is uniquely positioned to address this challenge through The HBA Foundation's programs, strategic partnerships, and advocacy," said Mary Stutts, CEO of the Healthcare Businesswomen's Association.

The HBA Foundation's efforts will focus on expanding the healthcare workforce by developing programs that educate, mentor, and support students and young professionals entering healthcare careers. Through this work, The HBA Foundation aims to integrate professional development with personal well-being, empowering aspiring leaders not only to enter the healthcare field, but to thrive within it. Initiatives will include:

  • Educational Pathways: Scholarships and grants for students pursuing careers in healthcare
  • Mentorship and Leadership Programs: Matching participants with mentors to foster skill development and career advancement
  • Pipeline Programs: Collaborating with schools and universities to introduce healthcare career paths early, and provide experiential learning opportunities
  • Training: Creating virtual internship programs that enable students to attain real work experience with HBA Corporate Partners and other healthcare organizations

"The HBA Foundation is about creating opportunity where it's needed most," said Carol Montandon, Chair of The HBA Foundation Board of Directors. "By focusing on young people and early-career professionals, we are building the healthcare workforce our future demands. The ripple effect of this work will be felt in classrooms, clinics, and communities worldwide."
