Description
- Capability strategy and planning: Own the capability strategy and learning roadmap for assigned therapeutic areas, aligned with the Director's overall DAG priorities. Lead performance conversations, identify the real capability gap, and recommend the right intervention.
- Training programme leadership: Own the design and delivery of high-impact scientific learning for global, regional, and local medical teams. Use approved AI-enabled tools to accelerate development, personalise learning, and improve the learner experience while protecting scientific, medical, and compliance standards.
- Execution and management: Drive disciplined execution from concept to deployment. Manage timelines, quality, accessibility, compliance, assigned project budgets, and external partners to deliver against business priorities.
- Cross-functional leadership: Lead complex cross-functional capability initiatives and act as a connector across Medical, Clinical, Field Medical, Commercial, Digital, Content, and external partners. Align to shared priorities, reduce duplication, and scale reusable solutions.
- Stakeholder partnership: Act as a strategic capability partner to Therapeutic Area leaders and senior stakeholders, providing clear recommendations on capability priorities, learning investment, and performance improvement opportunities.
- Evaluation and impact: Measure confidence, application, behaviour change, customer value, and business relevance, not only completion and attendance. Use data, learner feedback, and stakeholder input to improve strategy and impact.
- Knowledge and content management: Build a clear approach for learning assets so teams can find, trust, reuse, and adapt approved content quickly. Keep materials current, relevant, and accessible through approved platforms.
- Therapeutic area expertise: Build curricula that help teams master the disease state, patient journey, therapeutic landscape, clinical and real-world evidence, and the capabilities needed to communicate science with clarity and confidence.
- Learning experience innovation: Use adult learning principles, behavioural science, learner insight, and approved AI-enabled tools to create blended, interactive, and adaptive learning that supports performance in the flow of work.
- Content development: Partner with external providers and internal content creators to produce innovative, compliant, and scientifically robust learning solutions. Maintain a current library of approved, reusable learning assets.
- Enterprise contribution: Contribute to enterprise capability initiatives, including responsible adoption of AI-enabled approaches that improve learning effectiveness and performance across Medical Affairs.
- Communication excellence: Communicate with clarity and purpose to build awareness, drive adoption, and support pull-through of learning resources and capability initiatives.
Qualifications
Highest qualification: University
- MD, PhD, PharmD, MSc, or B.A./B.S. in a scientific discipline with appropriate experience.
- 8+ years of experience in Medical Affairs, scientific training, field medical excellence, learning and development, clinical development, or a related biopharmaceutical function, including experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives.
- Experience working in a matrixed global organisation and influencing senior stakeholders to deliver strong results.
- Experience managing external partners, project resources, and assigned budgets.
- Understanding of clinical research, clinical development, Medical Affairs, market access, and outcomes research.
- Knowledge of the scientific and capability needs of healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, researchers, and research associates.
- Proven ability to build engaging learning solutions using adult learning principles, reinforcement, performance support, and evaluation to drive measurable impact.
- Confidence using approved AI-enabled tools, digital learning platforms, authoring tools, and learning analytics responsibly.
- Ability to travel where appropriate, for example for pre-congress training.
