Sartorius has received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) v4 Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council for its Center of Excellence for Bioanalytics in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The designation recognizes the site’s high standards in sustainable construction and energy-efficient building operations.
Certification under the LEED framework is based on criteria such as energy efficiency, CO₂ emissions, water consumption, material selection, resource conservation and indoor environmental quality. To meet the stringent requirements, Sartorius made multi-million-dollar investments in the sustainability aspects of the brownfield facility’s design and construction. Measures include the use of certified sustainable materials, low-emission materials, on-site solar power generation, energy-efficient building systems with advanced air filtration and CO₂ monitoring, as well as electric vehicle infrastructure. Additional features such as LED lighting and a storm runoff pond further support the building’s overall performance.
