Description
  • Preparation of products in crude purification and column purification
    • Accurately prepare reagents and buffers used for protein purification by yourself.
    • Appropriately lyse the cultured bacteria and perform crude purification of the target proteins with the support of manager/senior members.
    • Analyze the yield, purity, and concentration of the target protein in target samples collected from the crude and column purification processes and accurately record the results.
    • Report the progress of purification and the results of purification analysis to manager/senior members in a timely manner.
    • Perform the work in compliance with the schedule and requirements as directed by manager/senior members.
  • Preparation of enzyme cocktails
    • Prepare, dispense, and store enzyme cocktails using purified protein accurately and appropriately with the support of manager/senior members. Also, accurately report to manager/senior members the inventory of stored enzyme cocktails and of lots.
  • Troubleshooting
    • Recognize trouble in the result of purification and report it to manager/senior members and team members.
    • Discuss the cause of the trouble with team members.
    • Execute solutions to troubles with the support of manager/senior members or experienced technical personnel.
  • Documentation and management/recording in manufacturing
    • Understand and comply with company regulations and quality control regulations (QMS/ISO9001) related to manufacturing.
    • Prepare accurate procedure manuals with the support of manager/senior members using the company's templates. Also, work autonomously in accordance with the procedure manuals.
    • Accurately record necessary information (numerical values, comments, etc.) obtained in the course of work, and autonomously create a record in accordance with the procedure manuals.
    • Summarize the data obtained in the work in a concise manner in accordance with the purpose of the work. Also, provide a discussion of what you have observed and noticed based on the data.
    • Store and update procedures, records, raw data, data summaries, and discussions in an appropriate storage locations, and share them with the team as appropriate.
    • Store reagents, culture media, samples, deliverables, etc. prepared in the work in an appropriate location. Conduct periodic inventories with the support of manager/senior members and check against this management list. In adition, share this management information with the team in a timely manner.
  • Management of laboratory environment (if applicable)
    • Carry out inventory management and stocktaking of reagents, consumables, and raw materials with the support of manager/senior members and secure any shortages in a timely manner in coroperation with the supply chain.
    • Implement inspection and maintenance of equipment and instruments autonomously in accordance with internal regulations.
  • Support for other manufacturing processes
    • Provide support for work in manufacturing processes outside of the area of responsibility with support of manager/senior members.
Qualifications
  • Education
    • Undergraduate degree or higher in the field of biology, science and engineering, or agriculture, or in a comparable field
  • Personal characteristics and work experience
    • At least 2 years of experience in experimentation and research
    • Ability to cooperate, listen well, and actively discuss team issues and their solutions
    • Cooperative in laboratory operations outside of experimental work (e.g., safety initiatives)
  • Languages
    • Japanese Language Proficiency: Japanese Language Proficiency Test N2 or higher
    • English proficiency: Ability to understand English literature and experimental protocols, and to read and write experimental notes in English. Daily conversational level of English is desirable
  • Experimental skills
    • Acquisition of basic knowledge of how to handle proteins
    • Acquisition of basic FPLC methods as wll as of column preparation and handling.
    • Experience in expression and purification of recombinant proteins using E. coli, utilizing a variety of types and methods
    • Knowledge and experience with general molecular biological techniques
    • Knowledge of and experience in handling common chemicals
    • This position is site-based, requiring you to be at Moderna’s site full-time. This position is not eligible for remote work.
